Have you noticed the flock of hummingbirds and angels that have flown into Terra Verde? They are made of Ef*ivory (elephant friendly ivory) also known as sustainably grown tagua nuts in Ecuador.
Developed by Pro Pueblo, the foundation creates work opportunities, and encourages growth and independent livelihoods for local artisans in their home villages. One of their primary efforts is to help the women produce handicrafts that allow them to work out of their home and care for their family.
Rather than hire the artists, Pro Pueblo helps the groups by offering support in logistics and finances by absorbing the artists’ credit risk. The foundation offers artisan financing for the purchase of small equipment and tools which is deducted in small amounts from the work purchased.
Packaged in charming hexagonal handmade boxes, Terra Verde’s Tagua Nut Angels, Owls and Hummingbirds are unusual and unique presents that make a significant difference in the lives of the artists who create them.
